An Introduction To Sleeping Pills Are sleeping pills a miracle cure or the root of the problem?
Although this guide principally concerns itself with looking at alternative cures for sleeping problems, it would be incomplete without some comment on the subject of sleeping pills.
Many of you reading this guide will already know a great deal about sleeping pills from first hand experience.
Others may not. A great deal of misunderstanding surrounds the whole subject of sleeping pills and we should therefore take a little time to explore this here.
Before doing so, I should just take a moment to state clearly that this section, like this guide as a whole, draws upon my own personal experience of previously suffering on numerous occasions from insomnia.
Happily only a distant memory today!
It also draws upon my experience of watching a close family member's health deteriorate markedly as a result of taking sleeping tablets over an extended period of time and of seeing her, as a result of my own extensive research and help, regain the vitality and energy of youth once she stopped taking the pills.
Let me start by stating my position on the subject of sleeping pills.

Sleeping pills started life many years ago, with some in use today dating back to the early and mid part of the last century. The majority of sleeping pills in use today are based upon a formula discovered during the 1960s and 1970s.
Sleeping pills represent big business and produce billions of dollars in income for the world's leading drug companies.
As a result, these companies work hard to protect their investment and, while they spend huge sums of money every year in supporting a wide range of medical research, trials and studies, they have spent very little indeed on funding research into the effects of sleeping pills - particularly the longer term effects. Why? Simple, they know what these studies would show.
At best they would show that, while sleeping pills can be very helpful if used carefully over short periods ranging from a few days up to about three weeks, absolutely no benefit can be derived from their use beyond about three weeks.
At worse they would show that the dependency and side effects of these drugs when used beyond about three week far outweigh any benefit derived from taking them. Indeed, in some people they can lead to major complications and many respected doctors believe even to premature death.
Let's take a look at some of the main categories of sleeping pills available today and see just what they can and cannot do.
Sleeping pills can be divided into a number of different categories but, for our purposes here, let's look at the 3 main types:
